When Jasmine got in touch with my last year with her vision of a bridal crown I couldn't wait to get started. She sent me a message on Facebook with some inspiration photos of materials she liked and we agreed to continue our chat in the new year (2020) when I had time to dedicate to her headpiece. I knew it was going to be a complex and intricate design so wanted to devote a good amount of time to the creative process.
Jasmine wanted whimsical and natural looking materials with beautiful embellishments on a crown structure for her vine headpiece and we reconnected in January when the materials had arrived, scheduling in a video call so we could discuss it properly. We decided on putting the beautiful pearl petals together to make a flower with gold plated flowers in the centre. They were to alternate in size along the base of the headpiece with gorgeous gems and embellishments coming off the crown upwards. Jasmine even sent me a sketch of her vision which was really helpful!
The pearl petals coming together to make a flower. They had a mixture of bigger and smaller gold plated flowers in the centre. I kept her up to date every step of the way with regular videos, photos and voice notes.
Once we were happy with the placement of the flowers I started creating the sprigs of materials. I handmade the little pearl flower you can see below with acrylic pearl beads with a gold Swarovski gem centre. I started on the sides until I got round to the front which was the trickiest bit to do as it had to look asymmetrical.
If it wasn't perfect I changed it! Jasmine wanted the centre sprig to be fuller so I took this one off and made it again (I did this with quite a few of the sprigs)
Here is the final 'draft' of the front three sprigs. Once Jasmine was happy with them I then attached them to the base.
And the happy day - when my bride gives me the final ok with the design and I can then start doing the 'forever wiring'. Here my intern Sophie models the crown in a video I sent to Jasmine.
And the finished result! I used golden and crystal clear Swarovski gems, freshwater pearl petals, gold plated flowers, pearl beads in a mixture of shapes and oval and square diamantes in gold settings. They were all hand twisted onto a gold wire base with hooks along it to attach to the hair with hair pins.
It's quite hard to see just how beautiful it is in these photos, I wish I could show it to you in real life. It really is one of the most intricate headpieces I have ever made and I am so proud of it! A year in the planning and over 9 months of researching materials and making it and here is the final result. I hope you like it!
There is a video of Jasmine trying on her headpiece for the first time on my Instagram grid. My blog wanted to turn the video upside for some reason so please do pop over there to watch it!
Here is Jasmine's testimonial too...
I burst into tears when I took my incredible tiara out of the box! Absolutely everything I dreamed of and so much more! I never thought I’d be able to co-design and own something I had thought up in my head, it’s perfect and I cannot wait to wear it on my big next next September. It’s an experience I’ll never forget thanks to the wonderful and talented Claire. I couldn’t recommend using her company more for your wedding hairpiece or even for something bespoke for any time of the year! Such a special, unique and personal experience. The time, care, love and thoughtfulness that went into the making of this is above and beyond anyone I have ever worked with before. Your talents have no end Claire, thank you again for creating my dream tiara! x x x x x
If you are interested in a bespoke headpiece or jewellery for your big day please do not hesitate to get in touch with me via email or social media. The time it takes to make a headpiece completely depends on the design, how quickly I can obtain the materials and my workload so please always check in with me no matter when your wedding is to see what I can make for you. You can send me inspiration photos or tell me of your vision. If you have no idea what you'd like you can tell me all about your wedding plans, what your dress looks like (or you want it to look like), your hair style, favourite materials etc and I will draw inspiration from this to create a one off showstopper for you.
Love Claire xxx
